Carbon TradeEx America, organized by Koelnmesse Inc. and the Carbon Markets and Investors Association (CMIA) in partnership with The Climate Group, Environmental Law Institute and others, will take place on April 7-8, 2009 at the Washington, DC Convention Center. The Conference Program will bring senior U.S. policymakers together with leading players in finance, business, and environmental nongovernmental organizations to explore the interplay between climate, energy, and economic policies at both the domestic and international levels. This unique forum also provides an unrivaled Exhibition featuring many of the major financiers, service providers, and other institutions active in the carbon market in the Americas and abroad.
The Plenary sessions have been crafted to provide insight and perspective on the climate policy priorities of the Obama Administration and U.S. Congress, focusing on areas where the carbon market can advance related objectives in areas such as energy security, economic recovery, and international relations A series of other sessions will delve deeper into issues at the leading edge of carbon finance in tracks headed: Policy Forum; Market Insights; and Emerging Opportunities. The event will feature an "all-star" cast of experts from every sector of the market, including senior representatives from firms such as: Bank of America, Baker & McKenzie, Barclays, Camco, The Carbon Neutral Company, Climate Change Capital, DNV, Duke Energy, EcoSecurities, EKO Asset Management, Evolution Markets, First Climate, JPMorgan, Merrill Lynch, New Energy Finance, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Coinciding with the inauguration of the new Administration, the Carbon Markets and Investors Association (CIMA) has recently opened an office in Washington, DC which is designing details of the Carbon TradeEx America conference program. In 2008, CMIA member companies were involved in 75% of the value generated in the global carbon market (roughly $100 billion).
