DESCRIPTION:Register Now! \nMany governments and organizations are taking action to manage their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that are a cause of climate change. Verifying GHG emissions inventories, emission offset projects, supply chain carbon footprints and other activities provide assurance to stakeholders about the validity of performance claims.\nThis training course for GHG verification of inventories and projects includes:\n\n An overview of existing GHG verification approaches such as ISO 14064 Part 3 and the UNFCCC Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Validation and Verification Manual\n A step-by-step process to planning, executing and completing a GHG verification\n Reference case studies including verification GHG inventory developed according to the WRI-WBCSD GHG Protocol for Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard and GHG projects developed according to ISO 14064 Part 2\n\nThe material in this course uses ISO 14064 Part 3 as a framework for organizing and instructing your lessons on GHG Verification. This ISO standard is a policy-neutral and program-neutral International Standard. A personal ISO 14064 Part 3 license is issued to each learner as part of this course.\nThe material in this course is relevant to many GHG programs around the world, including the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Joint Implementation (JI) and Climate Action Registry (CAR) projects, as well as GHG verifications for The Climate Registry and the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS).\nKey concepts covered include:\n\n Planning the verification according to fundamental issues of scope, criteria, objectives, level of assurance and materiality\n Reviewing documentation, controls and procedures\n Assessing inherent, control and detection risks\n Determining verification activities, sampling and data testing\n Performing the verification\n Recording findings and making verification conclusions\n Developing the verification report and statement\n\nCOURSE LESSONS\n\n Introduction\n Introduction and Comparison of Verification Standards and Approaches\n Overview of Case Studies\n Important Principles and Concepts of GHG Verification\n Overview of GHG Verifier Requirements\n Preparations for a Verification Engagement\n Reviewing GHG Documentation and Controls\n Reviewing GHG Data\n Uncertainty Assessment\n Assessing Risk\n Verification Approach and Plan\n Executing the Verification\n Assessing GHG Controls\n Assessing GHG Procedures and Data\n Completing the Verification\n Course Summary\n\nWho should take this course:\nAnyone with an interest in GHG verification and in particular management system, energy and environmental verifiers, as well as users of verification services such as GHG inventory managers, project developers, corporate environmental and sustainability managers and investors.\nCourse Developer(s) and Instructors:\nClimateCHECK – Tom Baumann and Patrick Hardy\nRegister Now!
