About ghgLIVE

ghgLIVE is a series of workshops, training classes and job fairs related to the emerging, regulated low carbon economy.  The event series will kick off in North America in 2010.

The conference series will consist of 1, 2 and 3 day LIVE workshops, providing attendees with in-depth education and practical knowledge via small class room settings and taught by leading experts. The setting also provides "face to face" meeting and networking opportunities with fellow GHG professionals through classes, class room exercises, GHG membership meet-ups and job fairs.

The training and content of the courses is provided by the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (ghgmi) which is a nonprofit organization that trains professionals charged with measuring, accounting, auditing and managing GHG emissions. The Institute's membership program connects the largest global community of greenhouse gas and climate change experts in the world and is developing courses in multiple languages.

The workshops are organized by Koelnmesse Inc. and respond to the emerging need to measure and account GHG emissions globally. The goal of Koelnmesse is to offer ghgLIVE workshops in dozens of countries along with the current online curriculum by GHGMI, which is already accessible from anywhere in the world.

Who is building our global GHG MRV infrastructure?
7/26/2010 6:20:34 AM GHG and Carbon Accounting, Auditing, Management & Training | Greenhouse Gas Management Institute
Sometimes it feels quite lonely here at GHG Management Institute headquarters. Toiling away trying to do what we think is needed to support the future of greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation policy. While most people who pay attention to the issue are obsessed with the politics of the moment, we work away behind the scenes thinking [...]

The first regional workshop on GHG inventories and accounting took place at the 5th Asian Clean Energy Forum (ACEF) hosted by ADB and USAID on June 21, 2010 in ADB’s headquarters in Manila. GHGMI’s Gao Pronove presented at the workshop and shared GHGMI’s experience as the leading training provider for GHG accounting, verification, and management. [...]
What is different about methane (CH4) emissions? The forgotten CO2 in GHG emissions accounting
7/13/2010 10:21:57 PM GHG and Carbon Accounting, Auditing, Management & Training | Greenhouse Gas Management Institute
In this third blog post on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and Global Warning Potential (GWP) values, I want to focus on a unique characteristic of methane (CH4). I would venture to guess that many of you are unaware that most GHG emission inventories and offset project methodologies underestimate actual emissions from fugitive emissions of methane. This [...]

What is a Global Warming Potential? And which one do I use?
6/28/2010 7:50:53 AM GHG and Carbon Accounting, Auditing, Management & Training | Greenhouse Gas Management Institute
This question is not as silly as it may seem, and is so fundamental to GHG management that many practitioners are probably afraid to seek clarification out of fear of looking bad. Since not everyone in the field has studied atmospheric chemistry (I admit I have, but wouldn’t expect the range of folks working on [...]
