About ghgLIVE

ghgLIVE is a series of workshops, training classes and job fairs related to the emerging, regulated low carbon economy.  The event series will kick off in North America in 2010.

The conference series will consist of 1, 2 and 3 day LIVE workshops, providing attendees with in-depth education and practical knowledge via small class room settings and taught by leading experts. The setting also provides "face to face" meeting and networking opportunities with fellow GHG professionals through classes, class room exercises, GHG membership meet-ups and job fairs.

The training and content of the courses is provided by the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (ghgmi) which is a nonprofit organization that trains professionals charged with measuring, accounting, auditing and managing GHG emissions. The Institute's membership program connects the largest global community of greenhouse gas and climate change experts in the world and is developing courses in multiple languages.

The workshops are organized by Koelnmesse Inc. and respond to the emerging need to measure and account GHG emissions globally. The goal of Koelnmesse is to offer ghgLIVE workshops in dozens of countries along with the current online curriculum by GHGMI, which is already accessible from anywhere in the world.

Where is the GHG Management Institute located?
2/17/2010 8:01:18 AM GHG and Carbon Accounting, Auditing, Management & Training | Greenhouse Gas Management Institute
We get this question quite often. Where is our office? Our headquarters’ address is in the Washington, D.C. area. Specifically, we are incorporated in the State of Maryland as a nonprofit organization with an address just outside of Washington, D.C. proper (literally, just a few hundred meters from the District border). For those of you [...]
The Treaty Compliance Challenge: Enforcement under the Kyoto Protocol
2/10/2010 2:21:49 PM GHG and Carbon Accounting, Auditing, Management & Training | Greenhouse Gas Management Institute
Now that we have the Copenhagen Accord, which gives us some hope that eventually we will have a treaty that includes the United States and active engagement from developing countries, it seems like a good time to open our history books and look at some lessons from the Kyoto Protocol. Many consider the Kyoto Protocol a [...]
How we do international capacity building
1/27/2010 4:54:41 AM GHG and Carbon Accounting, Auditing, Management & Training | Greenhouse Gas Management Institute
In the climate change policy world there is plenty of talk about capacity building, especially for developing countries — though occasionally for developed countries as well. Less frequently, however, is what is meant by “capacity building” specified. The concept comes from the broader field of international development. The United Nations Development Programme defines it as: Capacity [...]
Professionalising GHG Verification
1/15/2010 2:11:50 PM GHG and Carbon Accounting, Auditing, Management & Training | Greenhouse Gas Management Institute
From Environmental Finance The recent suspension of a leading CDM verification company has highlighted the need to ‘professionalise’ the auditors of greenhouse gas emissions, say Tim Stumhofer and Michael Gillenwater. For the full story, please see the December 2009/January 2010 print edition of Environmental Finance: http://www.environmental-finance.com/2009/0912dec/features.htm#nf3
Why e-learning?
1/15/2010 1:22:32 PM GHG and Carbon Accounting, Auditing, Management & Training | Greenhouse Gas Management Institute
Here at the Institute, we are consistently amazed at the number of people who blindly assume we deliver training in a standard classroom setting. Indeed one of the most common inquiries we receive is where and at what time we are offering classes. After more than two years of responding to such format questions, we [...]
